Local journalist killed in car accident in Herat

Wakil Ahmad Seddiqi, who used to work for the privately-run Faryad Radio of Herat has died after suffering life-threatening injuries in a traffic incident.

The car carrying Seddiqi and five of his colleagues collided heads-on with a truck on Kazargah Street in northern suburbs of Herat city.

Two of his colleagues from the Independent Election Commission to which he recently joined recently were also killed in the incident and three others were seriously wounded.

Seddiqi, 25, had recently quitted Radio Faryad and joined the IEC as public relations officer.

Seddiqi studied journalism in the Herat University and worked for the Youth Radio and Pagah Magazine before joining Radio Faryad.

The Center of Journalists of Afghanistan is deeply sorrowed by his death and conveys its condolence with the bereaved family.
