Second Aljazeera reporter arrested by ISAF

KANDAHAR, September 22, 2010

A second Aljazeera local reporter has been arrested by the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force in southern Afghanistan.

Muhamamd Nader  was detained when ISAF troops raided his home early Wednesday morning in Aino Mena, in outskirts of Kandahar city in the south, according to the reporter's friends and colleagues.

Azizullah Popal, a friend of Nader and local journalist, told AFJC he visited Nader's mother in her home and that the family was shocked by the sudden raid.

They knew nothing of reasons for Nader's detention, Popal said. ISAF troops also confiscated cameras and other office utilities of Nader.

Earlier, ISAF detained another local Aljazeera reporter Rahmatullah Nikzad in Ghazni province two days ago.
