Two local reporters of Aljazeera detained in the south and a freelance journalist detained in Kapisa have been freed by the NATO-led International Security Assistance Force, the alliance said in a statement today.
Aljazeera's Ghazni reporter Rahmatullah Nikzad and Kandahar reporter Muhammad Nader were detained last week during raids on their homes by ISAF troops.
A statemetn from ISAF issued today said the two, held for invovlement in 'enemy progpoanda activity', were not identified as signficant security threats.
Aljazeera had protested detention of its reporters saying news-related contacts with Taliban should not be considered as propoganda for them.
The ISAF statement also said they have freed Hujatullah Mujaddidi, a local freelance journalist from the northern Kapisa province.
Mujaddidi, who wroked as head of the provincial Kapisa Radio and TV, was arrested by the National Directorate of Security while reporting on the election a month after he was dimissed from his job. It is not known when he was handed over to ISAF troops and his release is yet to be confirmed by his family.
