Bomb blast killed two media employees in Kabul

Kabul- An IED hit a vehicle of Khurshid Radio& Television Network in Kabul city, killed one journalist and a technician on Saturday, officials said

Marwa Amini, deputy spokesperson for the Interior Ministry said in a statement that the incident took place in PD4 of Kabul city around 4 pm local time.

Mohammad Rafi Sediqqi, the editor-in-chief of Khurshid channel said the channel economic reporter Zamir Amiri and technical staff Shafiq were killed in the blast and 6 other were wounded. According to Sediqi, two of the wounded employees are in critical condition.

The Taliban’s spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid in a statement denied involvement.

“We deeply saddened and strongly condemns this vicious attack, our thoughts and prayers are with the lives the attack took on today. we hope the wounded employees will be able to resume their careers once they have recovered from their injuries." said Ahmad Quraishi, AFJC's executive director.

“We demands swift action from Afghan authorities to arrest and punish the perpetrators”, he added

Meanwhile, Sediq Sediqi spokesperson for the Afghan president said in a statement that the Afghan government strongly condemns the heinous and cowardice attack on Khurshid TV crew in Kabul. “Attacks on media employees are attacks freedom of expression in Afghanistan and the government stands by the Afghan media.” Mr. Sediqi added

The entertainment and news channel Khursheed had been hit in a similar attack last year in August, when a magnetic IED blast targeted a mini-bus carrying the employees in Taimani area of Kabul city, killing one pedestrians and injuring three others including two of the channel's staff.
