Job Introduction
The BBC Afghan Service broadcasts in Pashto and Dari for audiences in Afghanistan and Pakistan on television, radio and online as well as interactive services. We are the quality news, current affairs and information channel of choice to the Pashto and Dari speaking regions.
We are now recruiting a Journalist for the Pashto digital team, based in Kabul.

Role Responsibility
Reporting to the Senior Journalist Team Manager for Pashto digital, you will work as part of a team of digital Journalists. You'll originate and produce a wide variety of digital news and current affairs content, including digital video pieces, one-to-one interviews and text articles for the BBC Pashto website. You are expected to come up with original ideas for digital stories, and also work on stories commissioned by the Pashto Digital Editor. You will be responsible for looking after the BBC Pashto website and BBC Pashto social media platforms during your normal shifts under the supervision of the Pashto Digital Editor and the Senior Producer.
The Ideal Candidate
You'll need significant recent experience as a Journalist, with a good knowledge of digital production techniques. A full command and up to date knowledge of spoken and written modern standard Pashto (as first or equivalent language) is essential. You'll also need complete comprehension of written and spoken English and the ability to communicate effectively. You'll need to demonstrate an interest in developments in the digital market in Afghanistan along with a good knowledge of what works on digital platforms within the market. An understanding of the BBC Afghan distinctive news agenda and a wider interest in the strategy of the BBC as a whole is essential.
