Qalat: Afghan authorities should thoroughly investigate the killing of Shaki ‘Baluch’, a technician with the National broadcaster RTA, the Afghanistan Journalists Center said Wednesday.

Radio Television Afghanistan(RTA) in a Twit said Mr. Sakhi stabbed to death in Qalat city, capital of Zabul province.

Head of Technician department at RTA Zabul, said Sakhi went missing on his way from office to home around 9 pm Sunday, June 9.  “Unfortunately, after 24 hours of searching, local residents reported that they found Mr. Sakhi stabbed and killed, in ‘Khala’ area 3 km south of Qalat city’ he added.

Sakhi has worked as a technician with Radio Television Afghanistan in Zabul province for two years, Mr. Sadat said.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility for the incident. Local official say that Sakhi had been killed in mysterious circumstances and investigations had been initiated to identify who were behind his killing.

Afghanistan Journalists Center (AFJC) condemns killing of Mr. Sakhi and calls on the Afghan government to seriously pursue the case. “AFJC demanding a full investigation of the incident to bring those responsible for this heinous crime to justice.” said AFJC Executive director Ahmad Quraishi

Sakhi is the first victim of media community in Afghanistan in 2019. According to the AFJC, Afghanistan is one of the deadliest countries for journalists in the world. More than 100 journalists and media workers have been killed mostly in the Taliban and IS(Daesh) in Afghanistan since 2001.
