Sadem Khan Bahadorzoi, the editor in chief of Melma private radio in Urgon, Paktika was stabbed to death by unknown men.
Afghanistan Journalists Center seriously condemns this act and appeals to the Afghan government to identify and punish the perpetrators of this crime.
Yaqub Manzoor, Radio Melma deputy said that Sadem Khan received a phone call on the night of Feb. 21, 2012 from unknown armed men, who asked him to meet out of his house.
According to Mr. Manzoor, the family of Sadem did not hear from him since then until they found his dead body near Urgon the next morning.
Mohammad Yaseen Yaseen, head of Paktika Journalists Association said that no one has claimed the responsibility of Sadem Khan's death.
Afghanistan Journalists Center expresses concerns over the safety and security of reporters in the country, particularly in war zones.
Mr. Bahadorzoi is the fifth reporter and media activist who got killed in Afghanistan this year.
Previously one reporter was killed by ISAF troops in Trinkot, Urozgan; two reporters died in mine explosions in Herat and Mehtarlam cities; and one reporter died in a Taliban rocket attack in Kabul.
With Mr. Bahadorzoi the reporters’ death toll in Afghanistan, after the collapse of Taliban in 2001, reaches 32 of which 18 are Afghan citizens.
