Pul-e-Alam, Logar Province - The "Aynak" private radio station was officially inaugurated in the city of Pul-e-Alam, the capital of Logar Province, following a two-month trial broadcasting period.
The opening ceremony was attended by several officials from the Taliban government and members of the media. Mutiullah Sarwar, the head of Aynak Radio, informed AFJC that the Radio broadcasts from 6:00 am to 12:00 pm, offering a diverse range of programming including politics, society, culture, religion, health, education, training, as well as special programs for children and women.
Aynak Radio's coverage extends beyond Logar province to neighboring areas such as Maidan Wardak, Paktia, and Kabul provinces, broadcasting on 95.5 FM.
During the launch, Zabihullah Mujahid, spokesperson for the Taliban government, emphasized that the establishment of Aynak Radio signifies a new era for media in the region. Addressing concerns about access to information and self-censorship, he assured that the Taliban government is committed to combating censorship and ensuring the free flow of information.
The launch of Aynak Radio comes at a time when obtaining work permits for new private media organizations, particularly radio and television, faces considerable challenges, and requests are often rejected. Commenting on the establishment of Aynak Radio, Ahmad Quraishi, Executive Head of AFJC, commended the station's creation, highlighting the difficult economic climate and restrictive media environment. Quraishi expressed hope that Aynak Radio will fulfill its role as an independent media outlet, providing accurate and reliable information to the public.
Currently, Logar province hosts five media outlets, including private radios Paywan-e-Melli, Zainat, Ittihad, and Mahal, as well as the state-run radio Melli(RTA).
