Competition for war correspondents open

The Bayeux-Calvados Award for War Correspondents, sponsored by the Calvados General Council and the town of Bayeux, France, honor coverage of conflict situations or news events relating to the fight for freedom and democracy.

Photo, radio, television and written press reports on a conflict or news event relating to the fight for freedom and democracy must be submitted before the 10th June to be considered for the 2013 selection. They must have been made between the 1st June 2012 and the 31st May 2013. There is a €7,000 grant to be won in each category.

The Bayeux-Calvados award for war correspondents will celebrate its 20th anniversary from 7 to 13 October.
20 years of war reports and eye-witness accounts of conflicts, crises and revolutions that have shaken the world.
142 prize-winning reports since 1994, from Bosnia, Chechnya, Rwanda, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia, Congo, Pakistan, Israel, Palestine, Libya, Mexico and many more besides… and Syria, where the population has been living with tragedy for the last 2 years.

The deadline is June 10.
