Azadi Radio gets AIB award for the best investigative program

Azadi Radio's Azadi and Listeners program of which an episode was dedicated to the Afghan prisoners' plight in Tajikistan was selected as the best investigative porgram of 2010 by the Association for International Broadcasting (AIB).

The AIB said the program "delves into the issue and stirs up interest in the highest levels of Afghan government to end the bureaucratic limbo."

The award was part of the AIB's annual global media excellence awards. a

The award was handed over to Zarif Nazar, producer of the Azadi and Listeners, at a gala event in London on 9 November 2010..

Mr Nazar had put messages recorded by the Afghan prisoners in Tajik prisons forward to Afghan and Tajik officials which led to release of 170 prisoners.

Other annual awards by AIB were given to 28 different radio and television channels from various countries for their outstanding achievements in various fields.
